Acheon Winery
Intro
Acheon Winery is located at the foothills of Aigialeia in Achaia, approximately 1.5 hours by car from Athens. The philosophy focuses on producing high-quality wines from indigenous varieties with minimal intervention, highlighting the terroir and cultural heritage of Aigialeia.
Estate
The family tradition in wine began in 1946 with grandfather Luke Katsikostas in the area of Palaiokamari. In 2004, the third generation – Sosanna and Katerina Katsikosta – took over the management, evolving the winery with respect for tradition and adopting modern practices.
Vineyards
Indigenous varieties such as Roditis, Sideritis, White Muscat, and Mavrodaphne are cultivated at altitudes of 500–1,000 meters with northern exposure. The vineyards benefit from fertile soils and the unique landscape of Aigialeia. The winery features modern facilities with stainless steel tanks, temperature control, and gravity in the process. It includes a barrel room for aging.
Tourism
Visitors can enjoy a tour and tasting of four wines with cheese accompaniments (approximately €10). Through WineTourism.com, a tasting of up to ten wines with local delicacies is offered (approximately €17). There is the option for a vineyard picnic and hiking at altitudes up to 850 m with views of the Corinthian Gulf, as well as special packages that include meals or premium experiences.
