Divromo
Introduction
Divromo is an extremely rare red variety from Crete, adding another piece to the complex puzzle of the ancient Cretan vineyard. It is mainly found in old, mixed vineyards (known as 'logades') and, although not widely cultivated, it holds significant historical and oenological value for the region of Heraklion.
Tasting Notes
Color: Deep ruby with purple highlights. Aromas: Notes of ripe red and black fruits (plum, cherry) are distinguished, along with a light earthy sensation and herbaceousness. Palate: Robust, with noticeable tannins and medium acidity. The aftertaste is intense and often leaves a spicy sensation.
Gastronomy
Cretan Cuisine: Roasted lamb, traditional stews, or rich game dishes. Red Meats: Braised beef or grilled meats with strong herbs. Aged Cheeses: Spicy Cretan graviera or ladotyri.
Terroir
Region: Its main presence is found in the Heraklion prefecture, in areas with a long viticultural tradition such as Archanes and the wider Malevizi zone. Terroir: It prefers the limestone and clay soils that characterize central Crete. As a variety that has survived through the centuries, it is perfectly adapted to the drought and high temperatures of the island.
