Moschopatata
Introduction
Moschopatata is one of the rarest and least studied white varieties of the Greek vineyard. Although its name is particularly distinctive, the variety remains on the fringes of commercial production, surviving in a few vineyards in the South Aegean and Southern Peloponnese. Despite its rarity, it is officially registered in the records, allowing for its future utilization by winemakers seeking to revive forgotten indigenous treasures.
Tasting Notes
Its must is rich in sugars, indicating the potential for producing wines with high alcohol content. Its acidity ranges at moderate levels.
Terroir
It is primarily found in the Southern Peloponnese and sporadically on islands of the South Aegean. It is particularly sensitive to coulure and drought, making its cultivation in arid island soils a real challenge.
