Nevro
Introduction
Nevro is a rare, red indigenous variety from Northern Greece, surviving thanks to the tradition of the winemakers of Macedonia. Primarily associated with the Kozani region, this variety is part of the "mosaic" of local grapes historically harvested alongside Xinomavro and Moschomavro, contributing its own distinct characteristics to the final blend.
Tasting Notes
Due to its late ripening, it tends to maintain good acidity, enhancing the freshness of red wines.
Terroir
Its cultivation is scattered throughout the Kozani region, without forming large, pure vineyards. It is a vigorous, fertile, and productive plant, traits that made it popular among traditional growers. It begins to bud in mid-April, thus avoiding the very early spring frosts. It is a late variety, as it ripens in early October.
