Platyrracho
Introduction
Platyrracho is a historic white variety from the Cyclades that remained "hidden" for decades in old, ungrafted vineyards, forming part of the traditional blends of the Aegean. Today, with the growing interest in preserving the rare genetic material of the islands, the variety is making a comeback, primarily through Serifos, offering an authentic expression of the dry, warm Cycladic landscape.
Tasting Notes
Current vinifications highlight a profile focusing on citrus and green fruits. Like most grapes in the area, Platyrracho develops a characteristic marine minerality.
Terroir
Although found scattered throughout the Cyclades, Serifos is currently the main "carrier" of the variety. As a genuine Cycladic grape, it is adapted to the challenging conditions of the islands: water scarcity, strong winds, and poor, rocky soils.
