Ktima Protopapa
Intro
Ktima Protopapa was established in 1985 by Athanasios Protopapas, a chemical engineer, with the aim of producing high-quality wines for the Greek and international markets.
Estate
Located in the region of Kariani, Kavala, on the slopes of Mount Pangaio at an altitude of 250 meters, just 4 km from the sea.
Vineyards
The estate has 300 stremmas of privately owned vineyards in Kariani and collaborates exclusively with the Holy Monastery of Dionysiou of Mount Athos, in vineyards over 65 years old in the Monoxylitis location. The cultivated red wine varieties are Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Georgina. The white varieties are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Traminer. The production includes approximately 12 types of wines, with an annual volume of 250,000–300,000 bottles. The winery facilities cover 5,500 sq.m. within the vineyards and include modern production lines, underground cellars, as well as special tasting and visitor hospitality areas.
Tourism
The winery is open to visitors by appointment, for individuals, groups, and tours. The experience includes a tour of the vineyards, facilities, and tasting areas.
