Afianes Wines offers a multifaceted experience that combines wine, culture, and nature. It stands out for its rare varieties, traditional character, and modern experimentation.
Estate
Afianes Wines is a family-owned winery in Ikaria, in the village of Profit Ilias, at an altitude of approximately 610 meters, with panoramic views of the Aegean. It was founded about 20 years ago by Nikos Ath. Afianes and Maria, and today their children, Konstantinos and Eftychia, are also actively involved.
Vineyards
The winery follows organic and biodynamic cultivation, with natural winemaking without additives. It focuses on two rare, local varieties: Fokiano (red): intense character, mature aromatic profiles. Begleri (white): aromas of tropical fruits, freshness, and balanced acidity. The collection includes different styles and versions: Begleri Sparkling Wine – sparkling with fine bubbles and complexity. Icarus Black Dry Red (Fokiano) – ruby, with aromas of wild fruits & velvety tannins. Icarus Rosé (Fokiano) – natural rosé with aromas of watermelon, rose, and spices. Litani Dry White (Begleri) – dry, with minerality, fruity character, and 13.5% alc. Pithari White – low clarity white with notes of grapefruit, earth, and mushroom. Pithari Red (Fokiano) – full-bodied, metallic, and with a long finish. Psaronikolas White (Begleri) – with aromas of pineapple and fresh acidity. Tama Naturally Sweet (Fokiano) – sweet, 16.5% alc., with honey, dried fruits, and herbs.
