Hatzinikolaou Winery
Intro
The Family Winery Hatzinikolaou was established in 2013 in Messaria, Kos, as a continuation of the vision of Greek-Australian Anthony Hatzinikolaou, who revived the nearly extinct variety Mavrothyliko ('Black Lady').
Estate
The winery is located at the 6th km of the provincial road Kos–Kefalos, in Messaria, just a few minutes outside the town of Kos. It was founded in 2013 by Anthony Hatzinikolaou.
Vineyards
The grapes are dry-farmed (without irrigation), carefully harvested, and vinified with minimal intervention, using indigenous yeasts and low doses of sulfites. The range includes international and local varieties: Ruby Red Cabernet Sauvignon, Ruby Red Merlot, Ruby Red Syrah, Black Lady (Mavrothyliko), Platanaki, Asfendiano, Chorafa. All labels are bottled with natural corks, in 375 ml and 750 ml bottles.
Tourism
Hatzinikolaou Winery welcomes visitors with tours of the winery, tastings of selected wines, and grape picking for small groups. The atmosphere is familial and personal. Open daily from 08:00 to 20:00.
