Maron Winery (Domaine Kikones)
Intro
Maron Winery is located in Maroneia, Thrace, at the foothills of Ismaros, a place with a rich history in viticulture dating back to antiquity. Its name refers to the mythical hero Maron, priest of Apollo and symbol of vineyard fertility, who gave Odysseus the famous wine with which he defeated the Cyclops.
Estate
Maron Winery has gained recognition in Greece and internationally, with its labels standing out on platforms like Vivino, while its historical identity enhances the uniqueness of the brand.
Vineyards
The winery cultivates approximately 100 stremmas of vineyards, with Greek indigenous and international varieties. The cultivation emphasizes the microclimate of Maroneia and the production of grapes with rich character. The oenological approach combines experiences from Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Australia, aiming for high quality and minimal intervention in winemaking to highlight the authentic expression of the terroir. Iconic Labels: Maron Red – 100% Sangiovese, with aromas of plum, spices, and vanilla, aged in French oak barrels. Maron White – 100% Malagousia, aromatic, floral, and fresh, a characteristic example of the variety. Cyclops Series – a newer label with particular market appeal.
