Karasimos Estate – Family Boutique Winery
Intro
The estate was established in 1995 by chemist Theodoros Karasimos, who, after years of study and experience abroad, returned to Pieria to plant the first vineyard. Today, the second generation holds the reins: Artemis Karasimos, responsible for standardization, viticulture, and wine tasting, and Nikolas Karasimos, an oenologist with studies at the University of Athens. Their philosophy remains the same: small, family production, closely connected to the terroir of Pieria.
Estate
The estate was established in 1995 by chemist Theodoros Karasimos. Today, the second generation holds the reins: Artemis Karasimos and Nikolas Karasimos. On the Vivino platform, the estate is presented with 4 labels and an average rating of 3.8/5 from 29 reviews.
Vineyards
The winery has 21 stremmas of privately owned vineyards on the slopes of Ganohora, Palaio Keramidi, and Ano Agios Ioannis. The soils are clay-loam, sandy, and sloping, with excellent drainage and exposure. All vineyards are cultivated organically, with manual care and low yield per stremma. White varieties such as Chardonnay and Ugni Blanc are cultivated, as well as red varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Montepulciano, and Sangiovese. A notable label is Jupiter's Station 2016 (Sangiovese) — a red dry wine, 13.5% vol., with aromas of red fruits, balanced acidity, velvety tannins, and a long finish with subtle smoky notes.
Tourism
The winery, just 5 minutes from Katerini and the national road, offers experiences that combine nature, tradition, and gastronomy. Visitors enjoy vineyard tours, presentations of winemaking techniques, wine tastings with local delicacies, and the option of a meal. There is also the option to participate in cooking with a chef, as well as the availability of the space for private events, themed evenings, or weddings.
