In Santorini, we met Yiannis Boutaris, a member of the new generation of a family deeply connected to the history of Greek wine, for a conversation about the present and future of the Santorini vineyard.

We talked about his relationship with wine and his family’s legacy, Domaine Sigalas, and the challenges Santorini is facing today. From climate change and water scarcity to the need to protect one of the world’s most distinctive vineyard landscapes.

One of the ideas that stood out was his vision for the island’s future: a Santorini that could become greener again, with more vineyards and new solutions that could help viticulture continue to have a place on the island.

But the conversation did not stay at the table.

We walked through the vineyards of Domaine Sigalas, experienced the unique Santorini landscape up close, and continued the discussion where everything begins: in the vineyard itself.
