Fidia Lefki
Introduction
Fidia Lefki is one of the most unique cases of the Corfiot vineyard, as its name oscillates between local tradition and official ampelographic records. While on the island it is recognized as a rare white variety undergoing revival, international registries create an enigma around its color and origin, making it a fascinating subject of research for lovers of rare Greek wines.
Tasting Notes
Due to its rarity and lack of widespread commercial distribution, the "aromatic map" of Fidia Lefki remains under development: From small-scale experimental vinifications, the variety seems to focus on highlighting primary fruit, with its profile characterized by the island freshness that distinguishes the white varieties of the Ionian.
Terroir
Corfu: Its only documented presence is on the island of the Phaeacians. It is found in very limited areas, mainly in the region of Ano Korakiana. Its preservation is due to the efforts of small, "handcrafted" wineries (such as the Nicoluzo estate), which focus on collecting and multiplying nearly lost indigenous varieties of Corfu.
