Estate
Menexes Winery is situated in the central part of Heraklion Prefecture, Crete, in the Peza area of the Archanes–Asterousia municipality. The Menexes family's tradition in viticulture spans several generations.
Vineyards
The privately-owned vineyards extend over the hilly areas around Peza, at an altitude that favors the ideal ripening of grapes under the influence of the Cretan sun and the cool northern Aegean winds. The soil and microclimate of the area offer excellent balance, allowing the grapes to develop rich aromatic complexity. Vineyard management is conducted with respect for the local ecosystem, and harvesting is carefully done by hand at the appropriate ripening period. Varieties cultivated include Vidiano, Vilana, Plyto, Kotsifali, Mandilari, as well as Syrah and Merlot. Indicative labels include Menexes White, Menexes Rose, Menexes Red, and single-varietal/premium editions.
Tourism
Menexes Winery is open and welcoming to wine enthusiasts and tourists visiting Crete. It offers organized tours that include a visit to the production areas, an introduction to the family's history, and a tasting of the estate's labels in the dedicated tasting room. Due to seasonality and production needs, it is recommended to contact the winery for reservations/appointments before visiting.
