Domaine P. Kefalas – Ktima Kefala, Chios
Estate
Domaine P. Kefalas is located in Schinies, Volissos, in northwestern Chios (40 km from the city). The Kefalas family has roots in viticulture since the 1960s, when traditional grape pressing was still done in Kourounia Amanis. In 2004, Dimitris Kefalas established a modern winery, and in 2010, his son Pantelis inaugurated Domaine P. Kefalas, covering full production and bottling.
Vineyards
The production combines local Chios varieties with an organic approach and elements of winemaking innovation, such as the inclusion of mastic in special wines. The goal is to highlight the diversity of the island's terroir. The range is rich, with dry, semi-sweet, and sweet styles: Evodiastos – dry white (Assyrtiko, Athiri) with floral & citrus aromas. Markella – dry white with a floral character. Markella Rosé – fruity rosé with notes of sour cherry, strawberry & pomegranate. Schinambelos – sweet wine with mastic aroma, sun-ripened. Theikos – red blend (Agianitiko, Fokiano, Mandilaria), rich & tannic. Idioniros – sweet red with honeyed notes & dried fruits. Melanitis – semi-sweet red with a rich character.
Tourism
The winery welcomes visitors by appointment for tours and tastings. It actively participates in wine tourism routes of Northern Chios (Volissos–Amanis). At the tasting shop, one can purchase their wines, with plans to operate a dedicated tasting/exhibition space in the future.
