Aivali Winery
Intro
Aivali Winery is located in Petri Nemea, Corinthia, at the 4th km of the Petri–Nemea provincial road. It was founded in 1997 by Christos Aivalis, continuing the family tradition in viticulture, with the aim of producing high-quality wines that highlight the terroir of Nemea.
Estate
Founded in 1997 by Christos Aivalis, the winery remains a purely family affair. The founder, Christos Aivalis, passed on his craft to his son, Sotiris Aivalis, an oenologist trained in Bordeaux. In 2013, Sotiris presented his first wine, 'Nemea' from the Gerakina vineyard, aged for 16 months in French barrels, which received particularly positive reviews.
Vineyards
The vineyards are located in select areas of Nemea (Agia Sotira, Varges, Kalyvia, Traganes, Monopati) and are cultivated using an integrated management system. Christos Aivalis's philosophy focuses on minimal interventions: low yields of 150–550 kg/stremma, manual harvesting, separate vinification for each vineyard plot, use of indigenous yeasts, and avoidance of stabilization or filtration to maintain the complexity, character, and longevity of the wines. Key labels include Nemea (2013) – 100% Agiorgitiko from the Gerakina vineyard, Deux Dieux (2013) – a blend of Agiorgitiko & Cabernet Sauvignon, and Le Sang de la Pierre (2013) – Agiorgitiko.
