Zacharias Winery
Intro
Zacharias Winery is located in Nemea, in the Leontio area, just 2 km from the town. Although bottling began in 2002, the family has been involved in viticulture since the 1970s, with oenologist and agronomist Ilias Zacharias introducing scientific innovation to Nemea since 1974. It is one of the most historic and established wineries in the region.
Estate
The winery, operating since 1960, evolved into a modern facility in 2004, with equipment that combines tradition and cutting-edge technology. It is certified with ISO 9001 and HACCP ISO 22000.
Vineyards
The privately owned vineyards cover 400 stremmas, spread across the slopes around Leontio. They include old vines over 40 years old and host 12 varieties. Cultivation is done with controlled yields and an integrated environmental management system (AGRO 2-1/2-2) is applied. The vineyards grow indigenous varieties such as Agiorgitiko, Sklava, Assyrtiko, Kydonitsa, and Mavrodaphne, as well as international ones like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Syrah. The range includes over 15 labels with presence in PDO Nemea and PGI Peloponnese. Among the most recognizable are: Lexis N Nemea Old Vines, Sklava, Assyrtiko, Kydonitsa monovarietal 2024 with a strong aromatic character.
Tourism
There is no official information on organized wine tourism programs. However, due to the size and character of the winery, it is likely able to welcome visitors by appointment.
