Katogi Averoff
Intro
The Katogi Averoff Estate is located in Metsovo, at an altitude of approximately 1,150 meters at the foothills of Pindus.
Estate
Its history begins in the late 1950s when Evangelos Averoff planted the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Greece. The first official labels were released in 1974.
Vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Giniets area, at an altitude of ~1,000 meters. They cultivate international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and indigenous ones like Proimo Metsovou, Goundaba, Vlahavona, Pyknoasa. The mountainous geography and cool climate impart unique freshness, intensity, and aging potential to the wines.
Tourism
The winery has over 1,200 oak barrels for aging and collectible bottles. Since 2008, the 4-star hotel "Katogi Averoff" has been operating, creating a comprehensive wine tourism experience that combines a winery, wine bar, shop, and luxury accommodation.
