Asprouda Mykinon
Introduction
Asprouda Mykinon is an extremely rare white variety from Argolis, carrying the weight of a history spanning thousands of years. Although its name refers to the ancient civilization of the region, today it stands as a vinous relic surviving in a few vineyards around Argos and Mycenae, offering a bridge between the glorious past and modern winemaking.
Tasting Notes
Color: Pale lemon with golden highlights. Aromas: Delicate aromas of white-fleshed fruits (pear, apple), hints of Greek countryside herbs, and a light mineral note on the finish. Palate: Soft and balanced, with medium acidity and a pleasant, clean citrus aftertaste.
Gastronomy
Poultry: Lemon chicken in a pot or roasted with herbs. Pies: Traditional vegetable and cheese pies with feta. Fish: Small fried fish or grilled sea bream.
Terroir
Cultivated in the lowland and semi-mountainous soils of Argolis. Prefers limestone and clay soils that allow the root system to retain the necessary moisture during the hot summers of the Peloponnese. The region's climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Asprouda Mykinon is perfectly adapted to the heat, managing to maintain a subtle aromatic character without over-ripening abruptly.
