Violento (Zakynthos)
Introduction
This is an indigenous variety from Zakynthos, named after the intoxicating aroma of violets it exudes. It carries the aristocratic aura of the Ionian Islands and is one of the most distinctive red grapes in all of Greece.
Tasting Notes
Color: Bright ruby, not particularly deep, with violet highlights. Aromas: Dominated by violet, rose, and fresh red fruits (strawberry, cherry). Palate: Soft, with silky tannins and a refreshing acidity that makes it exceptionally balanced.
Terroir
Region: Its exclusive home is Zakynthos. It is cultivated in very limited areas, mainly by producers who wish to preserve local tradition. Terroir: Prefers the limestone soils of the island, which allow it to develop its fine character without becoming "heavy."
