Barafakas Winery
Intro
Barafakas Winery is located in Nemea, Corinthia, in the area of Prophet Elias, at the heart of the PDO Nemea zone.
Estate
The Barafakas family has been cultivating vineyards for many generations, with Christos Barafakas starting winemaking in 2002 and the first bottling at the modern winery in 2004.
Vineyards
The cultivation extends over approximately 180 stremmas of privately owned vineyards. The dominant variety is Agiorgitiko, while Malagouzia, Kydonitsa, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer, Syrah, Assyrtiko, and Moschofilero are also cultivated. Notable labels include: Magic Van, Gewürztraminer, YFOS, Chilia Chronia, Saint Modesto, Apocalypsis Nemea, 1st Athlos Nemea, Three Witches, Fairies, Amulet.
Tourism
The winery is open to visitors daily (Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:00, by appointment). Visitors can tour the facilities, the cellar, and the vineyard, taste wines, and purchase bottles from the shop. There is parking available for caravans. Future plans include moving to new facilities of 70 stremmas, with provisions for expanding wine tourism and creating hospitality infrastructure.
