Milia Riza is an innovative winery in Nemea that exclusively produces sparkling wines using traditional methods and an organic philosophy.
Estate
Founded by Nancy Mazou, an oenologist and granddaughter of Thanasis Papaioannou, and the Portuguese agronomist/oenologist Stefano Stante, with consulting support from the Italian oenologist Alessandro Belloto. Milia Riza is among the few Greek sparkling wines that have gained international recognition.
Vineyards
The grapes come from two iconic regions: Nemea: Agiorgitiko, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir. Mantineia: Moschofilero from organic plantings in clay-limestone soil, altitude >600 m. The winery's philosophy is based on non-interventionist winemaking, organic cultivation, and the use of the traditional method (second fermentation in the bottle).
