Tetramythos Winery – Rare Varieties & Natural Winemaking
Estate
The Spanos family began traditional winemaking in the early 20th century. In 1999, they collaborated with oenologist Papagiannopoulos, and in 2003–2004, the modern winery was completed, featuring stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels, designed to harmonize with the natural environment.
Vineyards
Tetramythos Winery is located in Ano Diakopto, Aigialeia, on the slopes of Mount Helmos, at an altitude of 450–1,050 m. The unique microclimate, rocky soils, and sea breeze create excellent conditions for producing high-quality grapes. Cultivation is organic (certified by DIO), respecting the environment and local identity, while winemaking relies on low intervention and the authenticity of the terroir. Area: ~340 stremmas (owned + partnerships). Altitude: up to 1,050 m – among the highest in the Peloponnese. Indigenous varieties: Mavro Kalavritino (unique single-varietal label in Greece), Roditis, Malagousia, Assyrtiko, Agiorgitiko, Mavro Kalavritino. International varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, etc. Roditis Nature 2024 – natural wine from old vines (850 m), with minerality, complexity, and finesse. Agrippiotis Orange Nature 2024 – orange wine from the rare Agrippiotis variety, with aromas of orange, kumquat, and herbs. Retsinas: Classic Retsina & Nature Amphora – modern versions with fresh citrus notes. Other labels: Mavro Kalavritino, Assyrtiko, Sauvignon Blanc, blends with Malagousia, Merlot, Cabernet.
