Ionian Islands
The Ionian Islands are a distinctive wine region of western Greece, with vineyards mainly on islands such as Kefalonia, Zakynthos, and Corfu. The climate is Mediterranean with higher humidity and strong maritime influence, while limestone and mountainous soils support the cultivation of local varieties. The region includes PDO Robola of Cephalonia, PDO Mavrodaphne of Cephalonia, and PDO Muscat of Cephalonia, as well as the broader PGI Ionian Islands indication, reflecting the character of the Eptanesian vineyard.
