Mercouri Estate Winery
Estate
Mercouri Estate is located in Korakohori, Ilia, near Pyrgos and the port of Katakolo, in Western Peloponnese. Its history begins in 1864 when Theodoros Mercouris acquired the land and introduced the Refosco variety from Friuli, Northern Italy. The first modern winery was established in 1928.
Vineyards
The estate has approximately 180 stremmas of vineyards, with a prized 150-year-old self-rooted Refosco. Greek and international varieties such as Mavrodaphne, Avgoustiatis, Mourvèdre, Sangiovese, Grenache Rouge, Syrah, Viognier, and Malvasia are also cultivated.
Tourism
The Estate is not only a winery but also a cultural destination. Visitors can explore the historic cellars through tours and tastings, participate in educational programs, and experience events such as weddings, seminars, and cultural activities.
