Ktima Mikra Thira
Intro
Mikra Thira is the first winery on Thirasia, the small and quiet island opposite Santorini, known for its rich natural beauty and unique microclimate.
Estate
The idea began in 2007, and the winery was realized around 2017–2018 by experienced winemakers Vangelis Gerovassiliou, Vasilis Tsaktsarlis, and Ioanna Vamvakouri.
Vineyards
They cultivate vineyards both in Thirasia and Santorini, ancient and ungrafted, in the traditional kouloura shape with very low yields. The volcanic soil, strong winds, and pristine landscape create a unique terroir. The white Assyrtiko dominates, while Aidani, Mavrotragano, Mandilaria, and Athiri are also cultivated. Santorini Mikra Thira – PDO Santorini. Terrasea – a tribute to the terroir of Thirasia, with international awards (e.g., Gold at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2025). Nykteri – a modern version of the traditional Santorini Nykteri, with complexity and aging potential.
Tourism
The winery welcomes visitors from May to October, offering vineyard tours, guided visits, and tastings with a unique view. There are options for simple tastings or packages with local cheeses and cold cuts.
