Giannopoulos Vineyards
Intro
Giannopoulos Vineyards is located near Sparta, Laconia, in an area traditionally dominated by olive cultivation. In the first decade of the 2000s, Christos Giannopoulos decided to shift to viticulture, leaving olives behind. His son, with studies in oenology, took over, raising the bar for quality and standards.
Estate
In 2015, the first labels with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Laconia were released, marking the professional transformation of the winery.
Vineyards
The family emphasizes a terroir-driven approach: each label reflects the microclimate, the identity of the place, and the family's passion. Their range includes white, rosé, and red wines, based on indigenous varieties such as Kydonitsa and Mavroudi. Indicative: White 'LO' – refined, white wine. Rosé Semi-sweet 'LO' – floral, fruity, easy-drinking. Red 'LO' – lively character with fruity intensity. White Kydonitsa – notes of peach, tropical and floral elements. Rosé Mavroudi – red fruits with a hint of milk chocolate. Red Mavroudi – medium body, fine tannins, peppery dimension.
Tourism
The winery has an online store and an active presence on social media. There is no clear information about an organized wine tourism program, but visits may be possible by appointment.
