Kolliniatiko
Introduction
Kolliniatiko (or Kolliniatis, Vergiotiko) is a rare red grape variety from the Peloponnese, known for its high productivity and resistance to diseases and drought. It is a vigorous variety with large, red-black skinned grapes, ideal for medium-intensity red and rosé wines, cultivated in Arcadia, Messinia, Laconia, and Ilia.
Tasting Notes
Color: Medium ruby with orange highlights. Aromas: Red fruits, spices, earthy and herbal notes. Palate: Medium body, soft tannins, balanced acidity, and long finish.
Gastronomy
Local Products: Grilled meats or Peloponnesian sausages. Pasta: Handmade with red sauce and graviera cheese. Cheese Platter: Hard cheeses like sfela or formaela from Arcadia.
Terroir
Region: Peloponnese, particularly the Hills of Arcadia, Olympia, and Ilia. Terroir: Limestone and clay soils with a Mediterranean climate, harvest in mid-September.
