Orealios Gaea
Intro
The Agricultural Cooperative of Robola Producers of Kefalonia was founded in 1982 and is the main representative of the local Robola variety. Since 2018, it has been named Orealios Gaea, inspired by the words 'Oros' (Mountain) and 'Gaea' (Earth), symbolizing the place and dedication to nature.
Estate
The winery is located in the heart of the PDO Robola zone, near the Monastery of Saint Gerasimos. It was established in 1982 and renamed Orealios Gaea in 2018.
Vineyards
The cooperative manages approximately 1,200 stremmas of vineyards, planted in a 'cup-shaped' formation (1.6 × 1.6 m) on a pronounced semi-mountainous terrain. Cultivation is primarily manual. The microclimate is characterized by intense sunshine, cool nights, and a sea breeze. The dominant variety is Robola, with Muscat, Tsaousi, Vostilidi, Mavrodaphne, Zakynthino, and Skylopniktis also cultivated. Signature labels include: Truth BIO – organic Robola certified since 1999, San Gerasimo – high-altitude PDO Robola, aged for 6 months in barrels.
Tourism
The winery is open to visitors year-round: May–October: open access without appointment, November–April: visits by arrangement. Tastings, vineyard and winery tours, special tastings, and events are offered. Facilities include parking, Wi-Fi, and support in Greek and English.
