Intro
Akrathos Newlands Winery is a boutique winery in Eastern Halkidiki, located between Thessaloniki and Mount Athos, in the area of Megali Panagia.
Estate
The name derives from the ancient city of Akanthos. The first planting took place in 2009. The Assyrtiko 2017 received a Gold Medal and Special Distinction at the Thessaloniki International Wine Competition. In the Falstaff Wine Guide, the Assyrtiko 2019 and Xinomavro 2017 received scores up to 93 points.
Vineyards
The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 500–700 meters and are organically cultivated with respect for the terroir. The main varieties are Greek (Assyrtiko, Xinomavro, Agiorgitiko) and international (Sauvignon Blanc). The schist soil and unique microclimate create ideal winemaking conditions. Wines & Labels: OROS – Assyrtiko 70%, Sauvignon Blanc 30%. Assyrtiko (single vineyard) – 100% Assyrtiko. Philosopher – Agiorgitiko 90%, Xinomavro 10%. Xinomavro – 100% Xinomavro. Orator Rosé – Agiorgitiko, Grenache Rouge, Syrah.
