Lyrarakis Winery
Intro
Lyrarakis Estate, a family-owned winery founded in 1966 by brothers Manolis and Sotiris Lyrarakis, is located in the village of Alagni Pediada, near Heraklion, Crete. Today, the second generation, supported by a specialized team, continues the estate's journey with an emphasis on highlighting the local heritage and the island's rare varieties.

Vineyards
The estate has approximately 140 stremmas of privately owned vineyards on limestone-gravel soils, at an average altitude of 550 meters. The philosophy focuses on the preservation and revival of Cretan varieties such as Dafni, Plyto, and Melissaki. Vilana, Muscat, Kotsifali, Mandilari, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet are also cultivated. Since 2020, organic farming and regenerative agro-wine cultivation have been applied. The estate has eliminated plowing, produces its own organic fertilizers, and uses lyre trellising systems. Production focuses on single-variety wines. Iconic labels include: Plyto Psarades, Assyrtiko Voila, Liatiko Angelis.
Tourism
Lyrarakis Estate is open to visitors by appointment, offering vineyard tours with panoramic views of the Lasithi mountains, tastings, and themed experiences such as picnic & wine tasting lasting approximately 1.5 hours. Operating hours are from April to October.
