Stilianou Winery is located in Kounavi, near Archanes in Heraklion, within the PDO Peza zone.
Estate
The Stilianou family has been cultivating vineyards with ecological practices for five generations, with the official start of winemaking dating back to around 1922.
Vineyards
The estate spans approximately 3 hectares of organic vineyards on limestone soils at an altitude of 350–420 meters. The varieties grown are mainly indigenous: Vidiano, Thrapsathiri, Vilana, Kotsifali, Mandilari. Cultivation is done without irrigation or spraying, with the microclimate enhanced by the summer northerly winds that cool the vines and offer aromatic intensity and a balance of freshness and acidity. The winery aims to produce wines that reflect the terroir of Crete, through the connection of tradition and sustainability. Notable labels include: Great Mother White / Red, Theon Dora, Theon Gi Red, Great Mother Amber (Orange Wine), Kotsifali Sweet.
Tourism
The visit experience at Stilianou Winery is intimate and authentic. It includes a tour of the small vineyards, a guided tour of the production area, and a tasting in a serene, semi-mountainous environment that highlights the simplicity and hospitality of the place.
