Boutari Santorini Winery
Intro
Boutari is one of the oldest and most iconic winemaking families in Greece, with a history dating back to 1879 in Naoussa.
Estate
The winery in Santorini was established in the late 1980s, with its first production in 1989 in Megalochori. Since 1990, it has been the first winery in Santorini open to visitors.
Vineyards
Privately owned vineyard of 6 stremmas surrounding the winery. Indigenous varieties: Assyrtiko, Aidani, Athiri, Mavrotragano. Approach: a combination of tradition and innovation, with respect for the local terroir and a willingness to experiment.
Tourism
The winery operates year-round: Apr.–Oct.: 10:00–19:00, Nov.–Mar.: 10:00–15:00. Offerings include: Tastings: €15–85 (45–90 minutes), with an alternative tour & tasting option ~€24. Tour of the vineyard and facilities. Special dome–amphitheater for screenings with a film about the history of Santorini and winemaking. Restaurant with 5 traditional dish pairings, as well as a boutique with wines & local products. Access: ample parking for cars/buses; nearby bus stop Fira–Akrotiri in Megalochori, with a short (slightly demanding) walk.
