Ktima Dalamara
Intro
Ktima Dalamara is known for its family tradition that began in 1840 and continues for five generations, with a focus on Xinomavro and preserving the character of Naoussa.
Estate
Ktima Dalamara is located about 1 km outside Naoussa (Imathia), along the provincial road Naoussa–Veria. The family tradition began in 1840 when Ioannis G. Dalamara established his first vineyard. Today, the production is continued by the fifth generation, led by Yiannis Kon. Dalamara and his wife Katerina. Their son, Kostis, educated in Bordeaux (Beaune), has introduced a biodynamic dimension to the production. The labels are available both in Greece and exported to Europe, the USA, and Canada.
Vineyards
The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 250–350 meters, on clay-limestone soils. Since 1996, organic cultivation has been applied with BioHellas certification, and since 2008, biodynamic practices have been incorporated. The total area is approximately 50 stremmas. The main variety of the estate is Xinomavro (Naoussa PDO). Additionally cultivated are: Reds: Merlot, Negoska. Whites: Malagousia, Assyrtiko, Roditis. The winemaking philosophy is low-intervention, aiming to highlight the terroir of Naoussa. Some of the estate's most characteristic labels include: Naoussa PDO, Merle, Ayehoros, Kapnistos.
Tourism
The winery has been open to visitors since 1998. The experience includes: a tour of the vineyard, a visit to the winery, the aging cellar, and the old distillery, and a tasting in the specially designed area. For organized groups, there is also the possibility of a meal.
