Theopetra Estate – Tsililis Family Winery
Intro
Theopetra Estate is a boutique winery-distillery of the Tsililis family, located in Raxa, Trikala, against the backdrop of the imposing Meteora landscape.
Estate
The family began in 1989 with the distillery and expanded into wine in 1996 by founding Theopetra Estate. The area holds archaeological significance, as traces of grape cultivation from the Middle Paleolithic era have been found in the Theopetra Cave.
Vineyards
The vineyard spans 12–15 stremmas on slopes with schist soils, at an altitude of 280–350 meters. The microclimate is characterized by significant daily temperature fluctuations. Cultivation is organic, with low yields: ~6–7 t/ha for whites and 4–5 t/ha for reds. White varieties: Malagousia, Assyrtiko, Chardonnay, Vermentino. Red varieties: Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Limniona, Xinomavro, Vlachiko. Indicative labels: Askitikos – red dry, BiancoNero – white & red blend, Mostra – premium selections, Aprilis Rosé & Aprilis White Sparkling, Xinomavro Rosé (Organic, single-vineyard).
