Vilana
Introduction
Vilana is the most widely planted white variety in Crete, centered in the Heraklion region (PDO Peza). It is a variety that loves the sun and altitude, offering wines that are the perfect introduction to the richness of the Cretan vineyard.
Tasting Notes
Color: Pale straw yellow with green highlights. Aromas: Fresh notes of lemon, citron, and pear, combined with subtle aromas of white flowers (jasmine). Palate: Medium acidity, light to medium body, and a soft, fruity finish that refreshes the palate.
Gastronomy
Vilana is the ultimate wine for Mediterranean cuisine: Seafood: Small fried fish, calamari, and shrimp. Cretan Meze: Dakos, hortokalitsouna, and fresh cheeses (myzithra). Light Dishes: Pasta with seafood or chicken with vegetables.
Terroir
Terroir: Medium composition soils, often limestone, at an altitude of 400-600 meters. Climate: Mediterranean, with hot summers moderated by the northern winds of the Cretan Sea. Result: Freshness and soft citrus aromas.
