Crete
Crete is one of Greece’s largest and most important wine-producing regions, with a long viticultural tradition dating back to antiquity. The climate is mainly warm Mediterranean with strong maritime influence and significant variation by elevation, especially in the island’s mountainous vineyards. The region includes notable zones such as PDO Peza, PDO Archanes, PDO Dafnes, and PDO Sitia, as well as broader indications like PGI Crete, highlighting the depth of local varieties and the momentum of modern Cretan winemaking.
